What’s The Real Deal with Persimmon Soap?
While living in Japan I’ve come across 柿渋石鹼 (Kakishibu Sekken) and gotten intrigued. A natural soap that claims to effectively battle body odor and even eradicate the “old person smell”. Really? I gotta try this stuff. Does it really do all that it claims?
Steeped in Japanese artisan history and requiring years of fermentation to properly bring the components to prime active condition, the construction of good quality persimmon soap seems to border on an artform. However, how robust is the chemistry and testing?
